This intensive two-day workshop, led by martial arts experts Guro Alvin Catacutan and Professor Hugh Fitzgerald, is tailored for stunt performers, action actors, and martial artists. It offers a deep dive into martial arts and stunt choreography, equipping participants with skills essential for dynamic on-screen action.

Daily Schedule

The workshop is structured into two segments each day, with Guro Alvin Catacutan conducting the morning session and Professor Hugh Fitzgerald leading the afternoon session.

Morning Sessions with Guro Alvin Catacutan

  • Learn specific techniques and drills from Silat, Kali, and Jeet Kune Do.

  • Focus on Silat techniques including leg and foot sweep takedowns, ground fighting, and tiger style kicking.

  • Practice Kali knife flow drills and disarms.

  • Explore the fundamentals and combo drills of Jeet Kune Do, accommodating all skill levels.

Safety Note: Knee and elbow pads are recommended for safety during practice.

Afternoon Sessions with Professor Hugh Fitzgerald

  • Learn Wrestling, Judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, focusing on, explosive takedowns, pendulum sweeps, judo throws from knees and standing, and transitioning from wrestling and judo takedowns to grappling.

  • Master techniques such as arm bars, Americana, closed guard sweeps, triangle chokes, omoplata, inverted arm locks, and Shooto threads.

  • Learn advanced moves like north south darce and anaconda chokes, gator rolls from knees, back takes leading to rear naked chokes, along with choke defense and reversals.

  • Practice applying Jiu Jitsu and takedowns in fight choreography, including dummy knife grappling and weapon retention drills.

  • Hands-on experience in both real-world martial arts application and cinematic portrayal.

Participant Requirements

  • Prepared to film and review all practical work.

  • Basic martial arts knowledge is helpful but not mandatory.

  • Personal camera or smartphone for recording exercises.
