The Hawaiian Martial Art of Lua with Kumu Michelle Manu

Kumu Michelle Manu

Hawaiian Lua is the only combat art native to the Hawaiian People.  Kumu will be teaching the Lua from the Kaihewalu lineage. It is based on land, sea and air animals, as well as nature element movements. It started as purely open hand then weapons were introduced. Weapons included pohaku (rocks), shark teeth, tree bark, and fish and human bones.
Join us to experience this warrior art with a woman who’s teaching is rooted in her Ancestry and the Divine Feminine.

In EP 9 of "52 Masters", William Christopher Ford learns from Kumu Michelle Manu (Kumu Lua under Olohe Solomon Kaihewalu) some foundational exercises and some traditional weapons used in the ancient Hawaiian martial of Lua
